Small-Town Roots
Jenna Dukes grew up in the small rural town of Gilbert, West Virginia. It was in that tight-knit community where she learned the values that guide her today: hard work, honesty, and showing up for your neighbors when it matters most.
After graduating from West Virginia University with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Jenna moved to the North Myrtle Beach area. She spent nearly a decade as a pharmacist at Walgreens, building deep relationships with the families and residents she served every day.
Building a Business
In January 2018, Jenna took a leap of faith and opened Cherry Grove Drug on Sea Mountain Highway – the only independent pharmacy in North Myrtle Beach. Behind the pharmacy counter, she heard a constant flow of frustrations from residents about traffic, infrastructure failing to keep up with growth, lack of medical facilities and a county government that felt out of touch.
Answering the Call
In 2022, Jenna decided to do something about it. She ran for Horry County Council District 1, challenging a five-term incumbent. She won – becoming the first woman elected to Horry County Council in over a decade.
Since taking office, Jenna has fought for smarter growth policies, better roads, improved emergency response times, and transparent government that puts residents first. Now she’s running for re-election to continue that work.
Personal Life
Jenna is married to Curtis Dukes, a local real estate professional. Together with their bulldog Wilbur, they are active members of the North Myrtle Beach and Little River communities. Jenna continues to own and operate Cherry Grove Drug, staying connected to the residents she serves both behind the counter and on County Council.
